Eternal; Cynthia Leitich Smith

Cynthia Leitich Smith's Eternal has all the mystery, snark, and werepossums I liked about Tantalize. Just kidding, this one didn't have any werepossums. Though there was a rather epic battle between one pissed off mama werebear and an couple Eternals (the name preferred by Vampires).

The two books aren't really related, though in the Author's note she had this to say, "this story takes place in the same universe as my novel Tantalize. Members of both casts will cross over in a forthcoming book, Blessed."

Eternal is the story of Miranda and her guardian angel Zachary. In a selfish attempt to save Miranda from death's shadow he reveals himself, attracting the attention of a fiend. Well, not any fiend... the Dracula himself. So now Miranda is his new princess and heir and Zachary, powerless since the Archangel Michael was not happy with him revealing himself, must go undercover while we tries to fulfill some cryptic message from the Lord to "destroy something important."

Eternal is a bittersweet love story told from alternating points of view of Miranda and Zachary. I highly recommend this book. My favorite quote from the book, "We are Evil. We are not fuel efficient."

I must admit, I judge books by their covers.
